Great River Race: Follow the Great River Race on a pleasure boat, start to finish, boarding Richmond Landing Stage from12.30 pm, leaves 1.45 pm. Light lunch available. Details and booking contact 0208 398 9057. [Non RTS event].

Saturday 4 October
Paddle Steamer Trip: Trip on paddle steamer Waverley, to Southend and Whitstable. Leaves Tower Pier 9.30 am, returns 9 pm. Time ashore at Whitstable. £29.95 return Southend, £43.95 return Whitstable. Booking Essential.

Festival of Model boats & Stream Engines: Kew Bridge Steam Museum, Green Dragon Lane, Brentford. 11 am to 5 pm. Details 0208 568 4757. [Non RTS event].

Wednesday 12th November
“A Day in the Life of a Thames Tug” – a talk by Richard Thomas.  On board President moored at Victoria Embankment EC3 upstream of Blackfriars Bridge.  Start 6.30 pm.  £4.00

Thursday 27th November:
“Managing the River” – A Talk by Alex Brown, River Manager, Putney to Teddington.  St Mary’s Church, Putney Bridge, 7.30 pm.  (Joint event with Upper Tideway Branch & Putney Society)

DECEMBER

Friday 5th December
Christmas Pub Lunch, 12 noon, ‘Captain Kidd’, Wapping High Street, E1.  Booking essential.  (Nearest stations Shadwell DLR, Tower Hill or 100 bus or Tower Ferry Pier)

Thursday 15th January:  Guided Tour of Trinity House, the historic lighthouse authority.  Meet at Tower Hill Station exit at 2pm. (ferry – Tower Pier)  Cost £5.00 (donation to the Corporate Charity).

Wednesday 11th March:  Guided Tour of Lloyd’s of London, including the underwriting room, Adam Room, Nelson memorabilia and much more! Meet at 11 am outside main entrance, Lime Street EC3.  Booking essential. (Nearest stations – Bank, Liverpool St, Fenchurch St, or ferry – Tower Pier.)
